The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) will start the recruitment process for hiring librarians across government schools in the nation. The commission began the recruitment process in 2012 and finished it in 2013. Now, after 8 years, the commission will begin the process of recruiting librarians in schools, sources said on Monday.
The commission has already been instructed to begin the recruitment of librarians by Education Minister Bratya Basu, according to the sources. The department will contact the colleges across districts to determine the specific amount of deductions for the post of librarian. The listing of vacant posts will be promoted soon, according to sources. The minimum eligibility to apply for the post of librarian hasn’t been decided yet. Despite the fact that sources told about the recruitment procedure for librarians, however, no official of the WBSSC has responded concerning the appointment of the librarian. Meanwhile, the practice of hiring teachers in upper primary schools remains stuck in legal complications. The commission has asked the court for four weeks to announce the date of the interview of the candidates who have cleared the written exam.
This deadline is already over. On the other hand, the Calcutta High Court has directed the commission to complete the recruitment process for the upper main by July 31. The job seekers have already begun a campaign on social media demanding that the recruitment procedure for the upper primary be performed within the time period given by the High Court.HC tells WB Central School Service Commission to hold a fresh selection procedure for assistant teachers. The decision procedure culminating in the recommendation of the candidates for appointment ought to be completed within 31st July 2021, the court directed.
The Calcutta High Court on Friday canceled the decision procedure for the appointment of candidates to the post of assistant teachers for upper primary schools in the country by the West Bengal Central School Service Commission and led it to maintain an original process of selection. After hearing a number of petitions seeking cancellation of the whole selection procedure on the ground that rules weren’t followed, Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya passed the decision directing the commission to maintain an original selection process of all of the candidates that were found to be qualified to apply according to criteria determined by the commission and move onwards from that point.
“This court deems it fit to cancel and set aside the selection procedure for the appointment of candidates to the posts of assistant teachers for upper primary level schools in the country pursuant to the notification published for the said articles on September 23, ,” the court directed.
The court stated that the commission will continue to verify the validity of TET certification, academic and professional qualifications as provided under the West Bengal School Service Commission (Choice for Appointment to the Articles of Teachers for Upper Primary Level of Faculties ) Rules, 2016.

WBSSC Teacher Recruitment 2021: West Bengal School Service Commission has started the online application procedure for the recruitment of Assistant Teachers. Eligible candidates may apply for WBSSC Assistant Teacher Recruitment by single online application as provided in the Official Website – westbengalssc.com before or on 06 January 2021.
A total of 465 vacancies can be found in Santhali Medium Govt.
The dates for these examinations shall be declared later. The WBCSC was working without a permanent chairman since January.
Sarkar will continue to maintain the charge of Vice-Chancellor of Netaji Subhas Open University.
Soumitra Sarkar, that was the last permanent Chairman of the Commission, was eliminated in January.
“A range of recruitment issues associated with WBCSC are pending with the forum. My priority is to conduct recruitments abiding by the court orders, which are normally time-bound,” said Sarkar after assuming the charge of Chairman on Wednesday.
Sources from the Commission stated Sarkar has searched documents for a detailed study of the cases pending in the legal forum. The Calcutta High Court has just canceled the recruitment procedure for upper main assistant instructors conducted by the Commission on the grounds of Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) held in 2016 and led to initiate the procedure afresh from January 4.
As per the direction of the court, the record verification process should begin from January 4 next year and be finished within April 5.
The interview list of those candidates should be completed by May 10. The final selection process ought to be performed within eight months and the merit list ought to be released by July 31.
