Beed: Five youths opened fire on a sugar cane worker saying why they wouldn’t let the vehicle pass. The incident took place on Monday night at Talkhed in Majalgaon taluka. A sugarcane worker was injured in the incident and a case has been registered with the police for trying to kill him. Police arrested five people Wednesday morning. This includes Santosh Uttam Gaikwad, Dilip Sudhakar Shinde and three others. Sakharam Sahebrao Jadhav is the name of the injured sugarcane worker. He is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
After coming to Talkhedgaon due to the end of the sugarcane season, Sakharam Jadhav and other sugarcane workers were celebrating on Monday night. At this time (MH 42-H-7084) Santosh Gaikwad and his four companions were coming from this quad. They argued over the trivial matter of not yielding to the side of the vehicle and then opened fire. The enraged villagers beat Santosh Gaikwad to death and handed him over to the police, while the other three in the four-wheeler escaped. Sakharam Sahebrao Jadhav, a worker, was seriously injured in the shooting and has been admitted to hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, a case has been registered against Santosh Uttam Gaikwad, Dilip Sudhakar Shinde and three others at Majalgaon Rural Police Station for attempted murder. Police immediately dispatched squads to arrest the accused. Finally, a team from the local criminal branch arrested the three from Jalna on Tuesday.
