Efforts are now being made to make Maharashtra’s 6-seat Rajya Sabha election uncontested. In this regard, the Mahavikas Aghadi delegation met with the Leader of the Opposition in Assembly and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. At this time, the discussion about the offer that Mahavikas Aghadi made to the BJP has started. At the same time, the BJP also made an offer and will make a decision after discussing it with party leaders, said Chhagan Bhujbal, Minister of State for Food Supply and NCP leader who accompanied the delegation.
Since the number of MLAs required for Rajya Sabha seats is additional in favor of Mahavikas Aghadi, on what basis will the sixth candidate of which party be elected? This has created curiosity. As 7 candidates are in the fight for six state seats, it was clear that this election would take place. However, with the latest date to withdraw nominations being 3 pm today, both parties are making efforts to make this election uncontested.
Proposals from both sides!
Meanwhile, according to information provided by Chhagan Bhujbal, Mahavikas Aghadi has submitted a proposal to the BJP. “The number of votes remaining for the sixth seat in Rajya Sabha is higher for Mahavikas Aghadi. So we told them to give us this chance. Let one of our candidates go to Rajya Sabha unopposed. You back down. Next time we will fill this vacancy.” at the time of the Legislative Council,” said Chhagan Bhujbal.

Following this proposal by Mahavikas Aghadi, the BJP has also proposed reversing it. “The discussion went well. Laughing and playing. I want to retire at 3 o’clock. Their offer was that you leave this Rajya Sabha seat to us and we will give you an additional seat in the Legislative Council. We will also discuss with our leaders. Then they will report to Delhi and they will discuss it. Attempts are being made to get someone to withdraw. We hope it will be successful,” Bhujbal said.
“We have held Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council elections without any opposition. That is the practice. We took the initiative, they have responded well to the discussion,” Bhujbal also mentioned.

Meanwhile, speaking at the occasion, BJP State Chairman Chandrakant Patil said that the BJP has a natural right to the sixth place and if we contest the election, we will win it. He also mentioned that discussions are taking place on the Mahavikas Aghadi proposal.
