“Maharashtra will stand firmly behind the Kashmiri Pandits and will do its best to help them,” Maharashtra Prime Minister Uddhav Thackeray said today (Saturday).
For the past few days, a “targeted killing” of Kashmiri panditas and Hindus has been going on in the Kashmir valley. Within a month, Kashmiri pundits were killed. Hundreds of frightened Kashmiri pundits have started to flee. The whole country is outraged. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray expressed concern about the situation in the valley. He said, “Kashmir Pandits are literally on the run in the Kashmir valley. They were shown dreams of returning home, but on their return home, pundits are rounded up and killed. In this horrible situation, a large number of Pandits started to flee, which is a shocking and disturbing incident. At this time, as the head of the Shiv Sena party and the Prime Minister of Maharashtra, I can only promise that Maharashtra will stand firmly behind the Kashmiri Pandits in these difficult times.”
“When the Shivshahi government was formed in Maharashtra in 1995, the Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray had reserved the education of the children of Kashmiri Pandits as a special matter in Maharashtra. Furthermore, the Shiv Sena chief has always raised his voice to protect Kashmiri Pandits: “By mentioning this, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said, Maharashtra has always maintained a sensitive relationship with Kashmiri Pandits. We consider it our duty and look at it with a sense of duty. We are currently monitoring situation in the valley closely. Talks are also taking place with leaders of Kashmiri Pandits. I repeat, we will do our best for Kashmiri Pandits. They will not be left in the lurch. Maharashtra will do its duty.”
