UP News Today BJP’s historic victory in 2022, but Samajwadi Party-RLD Alla…
The year 2022 has been historic for Uttar Pradesh from a political point of view. At the beginning of the same year, after 30 years, one party returned to power in the state with an overwhelming majority. From these results, it seemed that no one would be able to stop the march of the BJP bandwagon under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath in UP.
This guess was also proving correct. BJP recorded victory in Lok Sabha by-election from Azamgarh to Rampur. After this, it looked like the BJP could win all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.
Now, Samajwadi Party voters have also entered the realm of BJP social engineering. The party has focused on the Pasmanda community of Yadavs and Muslims.
But once in the three partial elections held in December, the last month of the year, it is seen that the equations have changed a bit. Among these were Khatauli, the Rampur assembly by-election and the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, which was left vacant by the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The Sadar headquarters of Rampur is the stronghold of Azam Khan where BJP has registered victory. The Samajwadi Party rejects the BJP’s victory in this seat saying that their voters could not vote there. However, BJP says that in Rampur it has also won the votes of Muslims in its favor, especially from Pasmandas.
Talking about the Mainpuri Lok Sabha by-election, Akhilesh Yadav’s wife Dimple Yadav won here by a margin of more than 2.5 lakh votes. The BJP had put all its strength into this seat. Mainpuri has the largest number of Shakya voters after the Yadavs. BJP had given Raghuraj Singh Shakya a ticket from here which was near Shivpal Yadav.
But Shivpal Yadav’s open decision in favor of Dimple left the BJP’s entire strategy intact. Even Raghuraj Singh Shakya failed to win his own stand. With this great victory for Dimple Yadav, it has become clear in the Saifai family that Mulayam Singh Yadav’s true successor is Akhilesh Yadav. Second, in the seats around Mainpuri, which is called the Yadav belt, a direct message was sent to traditional SP voters that Akhilesh is the leader of the Yadavs.
Apart from the Rampur and Mainpuri election results, the most important one is the by-election for Khatauli’s assembly seat in Muzaffarnagar. Jayant Chaudhary’s party, Rashtriya Lok Dal, recorded victory using the caste equation, which may prove to be a major headache for the BJP in Lok Sabha elections.
Rashtriya Lok Dal fought this election in alliance with SP. Along with this, Chandrashekhar Ravan who is emerging as the leader of dalits in Western UP also took the stage. The votes of Jats, Gurjars, Saini and Muslims are highest in the Khatauli seat. BJP had placed Vikram Saini’s wife Rajkumari Saini in this seat. Vikram Saini was convicted in the Muzaffarpur riot case, thus he also lost his membership in the assembly.
RLD had given a ticket to Madan Bhaiya, who comes from the Gurjar community, in this seat. BSP did not submit any candidates for this position. It was believed that the BSP vote bank could go to the BJP. RLD took Chandrashekhar Ravan for this. As the face of Jat, Jayant took command of the campaign.
In general, in Khatauli, BJP did not get a chance to solve any kind of equation this time. At the same time, all the equations turned in favor of RLDA. Jayant as Jat leader, Gurjar candidate Madan Bhaiya, Dalit leader Chandrashekhar Rao were on the RLD platform, then Muslims also got support.
The victory of this equation has given a new winning formula to the SP-RLD alliance. The Akhilesh-Jayant couple will definitely test this formula in the western seats of UP.
Speaking of Mayawati’s BSP party, the year 2022 has not turned out to be a good one. Neither the old ‘Dalit-Brahmin’ social engineering formula worked, nor did the ‘Dalit-Muslim’ alliance claims come true. The BSP’s seats have not only fallen, but its vote bank has registered a decline. Being out of power for a decade and Mayawati’s inaction is also behind the tremendous loss for BSP.
On the other hand, the Congress, which is trying to form a government in Delhi, has not achieved anything in Uttar Pradesh this year either. Congress has been able to become only two MLAs in 2022 assembly election.
