Here are the key excerpts from their conversation…
Question: A lot of things are going to happen now in terms of tourism. What kind of preparations are you making to promote tourism after Corona?
Answer: After Corona, many things are now becoming normal. There are some states where tourism has positioned itself in early 2019. Efforts by the central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give tourism a booster dose are succeeding. We are constantly promoting tourism by holding conferences, exhibitions. There are about seven or eight states that have gone back to their old way of tourism. In all other states as well, the situation will improve very soon.
Question: You also have the Ministry of Water Transportation and the Ministry of Navigation. Are the possibilities of tourism in water transport in which rivers like the Ganges and sea routes are being explored from the tourist point of view?
Answer: Absolutely. All preparations have been made to strengthen not only tourism but also the country’s economy through water transport. In many places, tourism and other businesses are growing very fast thanks to this. For example, you see the maritime areas, where we have started to build small ports. Through these ports, people doing business in the surrounding area have not only been able to transport their goods to other places, but have also started to gain a larger market. As for tourism, we are going to promote cruise tourism along with ocean tourism at sea.
Question: The construction of small ports and their connection with the main ports is part of the Sagarmala project. What is the situation in it now?
Answer: You will see that in the next few days, India will be the only country in the world where there will be a maximum number of small ports. Which will connect to all the main ports of the country and the world. Its direct objective is to provide the easiest and most convenient means of transportation to different parts of the world and the country, in addition to promoting the commercial activities of people who live by the sea. At present, more than a hundred small ports have been built in the country from West Bengal to the coastal parts of Gujarat, which are now fully used for commercial activities. Hundreds of small ports remain to be built. Water transport is the cheapest and most environmentally friendly compared to road and rail transport.
Question: What is the plan regarding maritime tourism, how is it working?
Answer: Very soon India is going to make a different place in maritime tourism all over the world. You can reach Gujarat beaches by walking from West Bengal to the beach. Currently, this type of long-distance cruise is not working. But soon a comprehensive roadmap has been drawn up to explore India’s beaches through cruise tourism. It will also include different packages. In addition to government ships, this tourism will also be increased through public-private partnerships. Right now there is private cruise tourism in some parts of our country, but it needs to be expanded and the government is working on it. And it will be the most unique tourism in itself. Efforts are also being made so that international travel can also be done by ship. In which the coastal countries will be connected. Work is also being done in this direction.
Question: The central government made some schemes related to wellness tourism. He also had the responsibility of the Ministry of AYUSH before. So it was also suggested that the wellness centers that will be there be connected through tourism.
Answer: Yes, it is a joint effort of tourism. In this, both the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of AYUSH will jointly promote wellness tourism. Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy are the most accepted all over the world. So that tourism is being promoted as a priority. The central government has also made great efforts for this.
