The word rose is made up of two words ‘Gul’ and ‘Aab’. Gul means flower and aab means water. She means sweet fragranced water. Even when sugar syrup is prepared to make Gulab Jamun, it smells and is sweet. For what is called pink. On the other hand, the pills are made from khoya prepared with milk. One theory says that Gulab Jamun was first made in Iran during the Middle Ages. Later, people from Turkey brought it to India.
