The Supreme Court’s decision to allow reservation for other backward classes (OBC) in Madhya Pradesh has surprised the state government, which is also hoping to get a political reservation for the OBC community in the state. The unreserved district reservation of CBOs in Mumbai, Pune and other municipal corporations has been waived. Therefore, the OBC reservation will not be applicable in these municipalities at present. As a result, now BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar has criticized the Mahavikas Aghadi government.
“The Mahavikas Aghadi government has hatched a conspiracy to deprive CBOs of their political representation. The government is taking the lead in strangling CBOs politically. With the upcoming municipal elections just around the corner, the state government does not seem make no move regarding the political reservation of CBOs.When Gram Panchayat elections were held in 105 places, four CBO corporations were elected from each Nagar Panchayat. This means that a total of 420 corporations did not go through CBOs. BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar has alleged that the government has hatched a conspiracy to prevent CBOs from gaining representation in the next five years if the Zilla Parishad and municipal elections go ahead without reservation.
