After the controversy over the renaming of Aurangabad, the lawsuit to change the name of Ahmednagar has now been filed. BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar has demanded that Ahmednagar be renamed Ahilyanagar. Padalkar has written a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray urging him to change his name. Padalkar has also criticized Sharad Pawar in the letter. On the other hand, following this letter, NCP MLA Amol Mitkari has retaliated against Padalkar without mentioning his name.

“Some people have taken the betel nut to spoil social policy to please the opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis. One of them, Supari Bahadur, has written a letter to the Chief Minister. He has also made offensive comments against Sharad Pawar. The birthday of Punyashlok Ahilyamai Holkar has been conveniently treated to do politics. This is what I want to tell you, do not commit this sin to please Devendra Fadnavis,” Mitkari said.

Furthermore, “Punyashlok Ahilyamai is the deity of this world. Don’t work to divide the Bahujan Samaj by politicizing the convenience of his birthday. Fadnavis is behind this letter. This letter has been sent at the request of Fadnavis,” Mitkari alleged.

Speaking further, Mitkari has challenged the opposition to talk about inflation and the wrong policies of the central government. “The name change issue has been pending for several days. The issue of renaming Aurangabad is pending. He says to change the name of the city. But we are talking about the wrong policy of the central government, the increase in inflation. Ahilyamai is seen as a good administrator. They wanted to curb inflation. However, it is very wrong to cover up the sins of the central government and hold the Maharashtra government to account. The letter from this leader, who has turned yellow with half a handkerchief, is not worth a penny. Ahilyamai is on the minds of all of us,” Mitkari said.

What did Padalkar demand?
“On the birth anniversary of Ahilya Devi Holkar, the recently deceased Punyashlok in Chondi, Ahmednagar, Pawar’s grandfather-in-law’s Mughal government abused the police force and prevented Ahilya Devi’s devotees from visiting Darshan in Chondi. Hundreds of Hindus have lost his life in a bomb blast in Mumbai.
