BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar has sent a letter to the Chief Minister of State, Uddhav Thackeray. Padalkar has demanded in a letter that the name of the Ahmednagar district be changed to ‘Ahilyanagar’. “Please make an immediate decision to change the name and show that you are a self-respecting chief minister and not a remote control of his uncle,” Padalkar said in the letter. On this occasion, Padalkar targeted Sharad Pawar for holding a rally on the occasion of Ahilya Devi Holkar’s birthday.
“On the birth anniversary of Ahilya Devi Holkar, the recently deceased Punyashlok in Chondi, Ahmednagar, the Mughal government of Pawar’s grandparents misused police force and prevented Ahilya Devi’s devotees from visiting Chondi. Hundreds of Hindus have lost their lives in a bomb blast in Mumbai.
Sharad Pawar did not come to the fore when he was a minister, why does he remember it now? Question from Gopichand Padalkar, conclusion of Janajagruti Yatra
“Hindu Rajmata Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Holkar is the inspiration of all of Hindustan. At a time when Hindu culture and temples were being looted and demolished during the Muslim rule of Hindustan, the Hindu goddess Punyashlok Ahilya Devi breathed life into this Hindu culture and restored it,” said Padalkar.
“There is a popular sentiment among all Ahilya lovers that the name of the district where Hindu Rajmata Punyashlok Ahilya Devi was born should be changed from ‘Ahmednagar’ to ‘Ahilyanagar,'” Padalkar demanded.
“What history are you going to inherit? Is it Holkarshahi Mughalism? It is hoped that the immediate decision to change the name of Ahilyanagar will show that you are a self-respecting Chief Minister and not run by your uncle’s remote control. Otherwise remember that this Bahujan has become a place and organized,” said Gopichand Padalkar.
