Pune: Although the southwest monsoon winds are moving at a slower pace, they are expected to reach Kerala in two to three days, the weather department has said. Light showers with thunderstorms and gusty winds are also expected in some parts of the state from Monday during the monsoon season.
Monsoon winds have been blowing in the South Arabian Sea for the past two days. These winds cover most of the South Arabian Sea and reach Lakshadweep. Occupying half of Sri Lanka, they have moved closer to India. However, on Saturday (May 28), the monsoon winds did not advance. Their advance in the Bay of Bengal has stalled for two days. The meteorological department has maintained that there is a favorable environment for these winds to travel and advance again in the next few hours and enter India from Kerala in two-three days.
Steam winds from the South Arabian Sea are bringing heavy rain to some parts of the south, including Kerala, and along the coast. The eastern states are also currently experiencing rainy conditions. Maharashtra is currently experiencing partly cloudy weather in the afternoon. The maximum temperature has risen in some parts of Konkan and Vidarbha. Light showers with showers and thunderstorms are expected in scattered places in the southern part of Konkan, central Maharashtra and Marathwada from May 30. The weather department has also warned of strong winds in some areas.

Thunderstorms and wind gusts are expected in sparsely populated areas of southern Maharashtra from May 30 to June 1. Rain is expected in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg in Konkan, Kolhapur in west-central Maharashtra, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Parbhani in Marathwada, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Osmanabad and sparingly in Vidarbha.
