Fist : Pre-monsoon rains are present in some parts of the state today, while monsoon rains are on the way. Rains lashed parts of Konkan, western Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha on Thursday (May 19). It is likely to rain for the next day or two. The meteorological department has forecast heavy rain for the next three to four days in some parts of the west-north, northeast and south of the country.

Strong winds are currently blowing from the Bay of Bengal. Similarly, low pressure belts have formed in many parts of the country. Precipitation prevails in the southern part of Maharashtra mainly due to the introduction of gale-force winds. Thursday Solapur, Sangli, Jalna, Osmanabad. Some parts of southern Konkan, including Chandrapur and Yavatmal, received pre-monsoon rains.

It is currently raining heavily in various parts of the country, with the northeastern states receiving the heaviest rainfall. West Bengal along with Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Sikkim will receive rain during the next three to four days. Heavy rain is expected in the northern states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and the coastal states of Kerala and Karnataka in the south.

Seasonal rainy conditions

The southwest monsoon rains on Wednesday (May 18) moved in parts of the Bay of Bengal to the northeast. Therefore, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands along with this region are currently receiving monsoon rains. On Thursday (May 19), the monsoon winds did not advance. Since the start of the monsoon rains in the Andaman Islands on May 16, no progress has been made in the southern part of the Bay of Bengal. However, the meteorological department estimates that there is a favorable environment for the advance of the monsoon winds. It is expected to enter the South Arabian Sea in the next two days.

Precipitation…next one to two in the state

The possibility of rain remains during the day. Rain is expected in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Kolhapur, Solapur, Satara, Sangli, Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Osmanabad, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli. There is a possibility of torrential downpours in some parts of Konkan and strong winds are expected along the coast.
