Nanded: In Kandhar Shivara, two schoolchildren drowned in a river…

NANDED: Two schoolgirls, who went swimming in the Manyad river basin near a law school in Kandhar Shivara, drowned on Sunday afternoon (May 22). The accidental death has been registered at the Kandahar Police Station.

Saurabh Satish Lokhande (16 years old, resident of the College of Law) and his friend Om Raju Kajlekar (15 years old, resident of Gawandipar, Kandhar) had gone swimming in the river basin near the city’s law school. They missed the water. There was also a lot of mud. They did not know how to swim properly. As a result, he drowned and died. Saurabh had appeared for Class XI at Shivaji College, while Om had appeared for Class X at Manovikas Vidyalaya.

Balaji Tukaram Dange, who went swimming with him, told Saurabh and Om’s father about the incident. The father ran to the spot. While searching for the two boys with the help of Parmeshwar Chaudhary, Krishna Chaudhary and Laxman Jotkar, their bodies were found. The police have registered a case of accidental death through a panchnama and the incident has caused a stir in the city of Kandahar.
