Mohan Chauhan, accused of the rape and murder of a 30-year-old woman in Sakinaka, was found guilty by a Dindoshi session court and sentenced to death today (Thursday). The court has convicted him on all counts. Anger was expressed across the country after this incident in Mumbai. The woman was admitted to hospital for treatment after the rape. But the victim died during treatment. State Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil praised the Mumbai police after the court’s decision.
Home Minister Walse said: “The defendant in the Mumbai Sakinaka rape case was sentenced to death by the Dindoshi Sessions Court today. The government had demanded the death penalty for the defendants, saying the case was “extremely rare”. The Mumbai police’s “response time” to the Sakinaka incident was only 10 minutes. The Mumbai police completed the investigation of this rape and murder case very quickly. After gathering all the evidence against the defendants, the police filed a charge sheet at the Dindoshi Sessions Court in just 18 days.

The police arrested the accused and filed a charge sheet in the Sakinaka area. In this case there is only one defendant. Police recorded responses from 77 witnesses and filed a 346-page charge sheet.
What exactly happened?
Khairani Road is a cardboard company in Sakinaka. On September 10, 2021, between 3:20 p.m., the company security guard called the control room and reported that a woman was being beaten. After receiving the information, the control room had informed the police within the limits of the police station in question. The relevant authorities arrived there in ten minutes. There they found a woman in an open temple in a very critical condition. At that time, the Watchman’s tempo key had been taken by the police to Rajawadi Hospital without moving it anywhere else. The doctor immediately began treating the woman. The case was registered due to the complaint of the security guard.
