This is a mountainous and remote area from the town of Gundewadi (Tal. Wai). It rains a lot every year. With this rain, waterfalls flow down from the Mandhardev Hills near the village. But all the water that falls in the rainy season is carried into the rivers in these four months. When the monsoon ends, the village runs for water from the beginning of February until the next rainy season in June.
The youth of the town came together last year to overcome this problem that they face every year. He decided to find a solution on his own without waiting for the government’s plan. Organized, they obtained guidance and dug hundreds of wells, ditches throughout the village area, on the slopes of the hills. He carried out works such as repairing small dams, infiltration ponds, etc. The ponds of the Shiva era were freed from landslides through work. Small ponds have been drained. Shramdana dug ditches in the hillside near the village to retain the water. More than 100 trenches were dug under the ‘Pani Adwa, Pani Jirwa’ initiative. The work was completed with hard work and subscription and since the last monsoon, it has been flooded. The water level in the village has risen and now the water problem in the village has been greatly reduced. This year, summer has turned around, but the scarcity of water in the town has not yet been felt. The village, which has been struggling for water for the past few years, has overcome this shortage and hardship this year with the help of the unity and creativity of the youth.
