Establishment of Nanded Police Commissioner before Independence Day? | Establishment Nanded…

Nanded: An independent police commission is likely to be established in Nanded before August 15. At a press conference in Nanded, Interior Minister Dilip Walse-Patil had announced that a proposal for an independent Police Commissioner would soon be tabled in the state cabinet. After the approval of the Commissioner of Police, an officer with the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) will be appointed to the Commissioner, the sources said.

Under the leadership of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, it will consist of two Deputy Commissioners with the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police and three Assistant Commissioners of Police with the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police, as well as other administrative officers and staff. The current office of the Superintendent of Police will be used for an independent Police Commissioner.

Home Minister Walse Patil held a meeting of Police Superintendents of Nanded, Hingoli, Parbhani and Latur at the Inspector General of Police office last Saturday afternoon. The meeting discussed the situation in Nanded city and district. It is said that pending issues from the Police Station were also discussed.

Of the eight districts in Marathwada, only Aurangabad district has a police administration division with a Police Commissioner for the metropolis and a superintendent for rural areas. The division’s second police commissioner is now on Nanded’s doorstep. After the proposal reaches Cabinet, there will be no problem getting it approved, as the Guardian Minister Ashok Chavan insisted to the Commissioner.

Will subdivisions be restructured?

There are currently 36 police stations in the district, of which 10 police stations will be under the control of the Police Superintendent (Rural). Will existing subdivisions in rural areas be restructured? It is not clear yet. Nanded Rural, Itwara, Wazirabad, Shivajinagar, Bhagyanagar and Airport will be under the jurisdiction of 6 police stations in urban areas. Apart from that, it is proposed to bring the police stations of Usmannagar, Sonkhed, Limbgaon near the city under the control of the Commissioner. One or two new police stations in urban areas are likely to be added in the next phase after the commissioner becomes operational.
