Jalna – Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve has clarified that by December 2023, electric locomotives will be running on all broad gauge railway routes in the country. Shutting down diesel engines currently running on the route will save money and prevent environmental damage, Danve said.
On the eve of completing Narendra Modi’s eight-year term as prime minister, Danve said that as of yesterday, most rail services had not reached Jammu and Kashmir and the northeastern part of the country. The Modi government has provided Rs 35,000 crore for the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway line in Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this hard work, the citizen of Udhampur will be directly connected with Kanyakumari. Similarly, a ‘Capitals Connectivity’ project has been undertaken which connects the capitals of all the states of Northeast India. Around Rs 1 lakh crore has been provided for this purpose. A ‘dedicated freight corridor’ is being established between Punjab and JNPT Mumbai and Kolkata to increase rail revenue. This route will only be used for cargo services. An important decision has been made regarding ‘Kisan Railway’. Until last January, Central Railway has transported more than three lakh tons of perishable goods through 900 rounds of ‘Kisan Railway’. Several trains connecting the pilgrimage sites have been launched. Bio-toilets have been introduced with a view to cleaning trains and stations.
The electrification of the Konkan railway has been completed. The Nashik-Pune railway line has been approved by the Policy Commission. Work on this ‘semi-high speed’ route is underway on the battlefield. The study of the Jalna-Jalgaon railway line is underway. The issue with the 5th and 6th lanes on the Thane-Diva route has been resolved. Danve also said that a study of the Jalna-Khamgaon railway line has been started.
