ED issues notice to Eknath Khadse; Order to vacate the confiscated space

On the one hand, the ED is acting against the leaders of various parties in the state. On the other hand, the senior leader of the NCP, Eknath Khadse, also received a tip from the ED.

The plight of senior NCP leader Eknath Khadse appears to have escalated. Khadse has received another notice from the ED. Along with Khadse, notices have also been issued to four others. Khadse’s land was seized by the ED in a land fraud case. The ED has issued a notice to vacate the premises.

Order to vacate property within 10 days
Khadse’s assets worth Rs 5.75 crore were seized from the ED in August last year. This included flats, bungalows, plots in Jalgaon, Lonavla. The ED had seized a bungalow in Lonavla and 3 flats and 3 vacant lots in Jalgaon. The ED ordered to vacate the property within 10 days. Failure to do so will result in legal eviction from the property, according to the notice. The Inspector General of Registry and the corresponding District Collector have also been informed that no one should be allowed to sell, lease or transfer the property in question.

What’s happening?
When opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis was the chief minister, Eknath Khadse was the finance minister. He was later accused of abusing his position and buying a 3.1-acre MIDC flat in Bhosari. The flat was valued at Rs 31 crore and sold for Rs 3.75 crore. Therefore, it was alleged that the transaction was made showing a low market price. Khadse has been in trouble many times because of this case.
