A meeting was organized to find a solution for Hanuman’s birthplace at Anjaneri in Nashik. However, the mahants on both sides of the place were found to be very crude. Literally, mahants from both sides were seen descending on Hamritumari. Therefore, the main topic of the meeting was left aside and for some time there was confusion of disrespect.
Argument at the beginning of the meeting
At the beginning of the meeting, a dispute arose between Mahant Govindan and Maharaj and Mahant of Nashik. Govindananda Maharaj was sitting on the throne. We mahants of Nashik will not sit in front of Govindanand Maharaj. He had asked us to sit down and discuss. The discussion lasted about an hour. After that Govindanand Maharaj along with other mahants sat down and then the meeting started.
What’s happening?
Swami Govindananda Saraswati, the abbot of Kishkindha in Karnataka, has claimed that Anjaneri is not Hanuman’s birthplace, but Kishkindha is Hanuman’s birthplace. For this he has given the example of Valmiki Ramayana. After challenging the sadhus and mahants of Nashik to prove that Anjaneri is the birthplace of Hanuman, the villagers joined the sadhus and mahants of Nashik in accepting this challenge. Local mahants and scholars have claimed that Anjaneri is the birthplace of Hanuman. Many have accepted the challenge posed by Govidananda Saraswati for a scientific discussion of Hanuman’s birthplace.
