nashik : Once NAFED starts buying, onion prices start to rise. This year, however, that has not happened. Rather, prices are falling even after buying has begun. Thus, expressing suspicion about this central government purchase, the onion farmers started an agitation and did their best to shift the direction of the agitation towards the government of Mahavikas in the state through the onion conference organized by Rayat Kranti Sanghatana in collaboration with BJP. Opposition parties have declared that they will not stand in the by-elections. Sharad Joshi, Sarvesarva from the farmers’ association, opened the first onion conference in Niphad village. In Rui himself, after 39 years, the opposition is trying to make political gains by organizing this onion conference. The problem for onion growers is the same even after four decades of rule by all parties. The agitating parties, however, are changing. At a conference on Sunday night, Rayat Kranti chief Sadabhau Khot warned that if the state government did not give a subsidy of Rs 5 per kg to growers facing difficulties due to low tariffs, they would take the onions to the ministry. . Sadabhau was Minister of State for Agriculture and Marketing during the Fadnavis government. Praveen Darekar, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council and MLA Gopichand Padalkar together with him gave proof of a subsidy of Rs 200 (Rs 2 per kg) per quintal in such a situation. The schedule of schemes implemented by the BJP government was presented at the Center for Farmers. The central government will buy 220,000 tons of onions this year under the price stabilization fund. This purchase is being made through NAFED. Everyone noted that this year 50,000 tons more onions will be purchased compared to last year. The state government has not even established an agricultural price commission in two and a half years. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya admitted that he did not know much about agriculture and criticized Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Transport Minister Anil Parab as usual. Padalkar accused Shiv Sena of colluding with insurance companies. The work of the Nashik onion center, which was announced during the then Fadnavis government, was delayed by the Agadhi government. It was also alleged that Agriculture Minister Dada Bhuse was under attack by fertilizer companies for raising fertilizer prices. The general tone of the conference was to surround the Mahavikas Aghadi government on the onion issue.
A reflection of politics.
Recently, the Onion Growers Association tried to get the attention of the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, Union Minister, parliamentarians and other people’s representatives to improve prices. The peasant movement box is in the process of acquiring NAFED. These purchases are made under the Center’s rate stabilization scheme. Only two market committees in the state had such a small purchase. The rest is acquired through the Federation of Peasant Producers. The organization has objected that it is trying to give more benefits to certain elements than the interests of the farmers. This caused some agitation. The developments of a month are reflected in the organization of the conference and the policy of involving the state government in this issue.
