Agriculture Minister Prem Kumar said – 12 lakh fishermen will be insured without premium amount

In the PM Suraksha Bima Yojana and Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, a total of 4 lakh rupees will be given to the family of the deceased.

Patna. Under the PM Suraksha Bima Yojana and PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, 12 lakh fishermen of the state will be insured. Fishermen will not have to pay any premium for insurance.

The central and state governments will pay half the amount of the premium. Animal and Fisheries Resources Minister Dr. Prem Kumar said that under this scheme, 2 lakh rupees will be given to the family on death of a fisherman during an accident. Together, the PM Suraksha Bima Yona and Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana will be given to the family of the deceased for a total of Rs 4 lakh.

  • The benefit of the scheme is to give to the poor fisherman family. Under this scheme, two lakh rupees will be given even on normal death. 
  • Four lakh rupees will be compensated on permanent disability of the insured person. In case of temporary disability, an amount of 2 lakh will be given. 
  • The injured will be treated in the accident. An amount of Rs 10 thousand will be given for the treatment in the accident. The nodal agency for insurance has been created by COFED.

With the implementation of this insurance scheme, Bihar has become the most insuring state in the country. The total annual premium of this insurance is Rs 342. Half of the state and half of it will be given by the central government That is, fishermen do not have to pay any amount for insurance. Fishermen have to become a member of the association or a member of the committees attached to it to take advantage of this scheme. CofED currently has 1.2 million members, who will get the benefit of insurance. The benefit of insurance will be given to a person aged 18 to 70 years.
