Beed: With the onset of the monsoon, the administration started disaster management. 63 villages in the district are prone to flooding and the villagers in those areas are already at risk of flooding. The towns of Godakath in particular are the most affected. Every time peoples face a difficult situation, they are promised permanent solutions. In fact, when the rains stop, the promises are forgotten.
The Beed district administration has established a pre-monsoon disaster management department. Disaster management is being planned at taluka level so there is no rush at that time. Although 360 villages in the district are at risk of flooding, 63 villages are the most affected. 37 villages in Beed taluka, 54 in Gevrai, 23 in Ashti, 9 in Ambajogai, 30 in Parli and 34 in Dharur and Wadwani talukas are at risk of flooding each year. Godakath villages in Gevrai taluka are on alert at all times. Even after the release of water from Nathsagar in Jayakwadi (Tal. Paithan) with the monsoon, the flood water seeps into Godakath village. Godakath villages are at risk of flooding due to the monsoon. Although the administration distributes disaster management materials in case of disasters, items such as boats, jackets and tires are used for temporary measures. Consequently, these materials have been delivered to the taluka system.
The administration has instructed the employees of the control room and disaster management department of the district collector’s office to remain vigilant 24 hours a day. Although temporary measures are being taken for the flood-prone villages, it is clear that the administration and government are indifferent in terms of concrete measures.
Lighting systems in six places.
In the rainy season, lightning strikes and deaths occur in some places. In this context, the administration together with the Beed tehsil office have implemented an anti-light system in Hatola (Tal. Ashti), Hivara Budruk (Tal. Majalgaon), Daithana (Tal. Gevrai), Kumbhephal (Tal. Cage) and Shirurkasar. This device intercepts electricity in an area of forty kilometers.
