There was a stir at the National Disaster Management Force / NDRF Headquarters on Monday when a large number of soldiers were found to be infected with corona. Corona test positive of about 50 jawans working in Cuttack, Odisha. These are the soldiers who were sent from Odisha to West Bengal for the relief and rescue work of Hurricane Amfan.
Went to relief and rescue work in West Bengal
In fact, last month the cyclonic storm caused huge destruction in West Bengal. Before and after the storm, the troops working in Odisha for relief and rescue work were sent to West Bengal. Additional soldiers were deployed there. So that relief and rescue work can be done there as soon as possible. After relief and rescue work, some of the jawans who returned to Odisha were reported to be out of health.
Report of 50 jawans positive out of 190,
followed by corona investigation report positive of some jawans. The department ordered all the jawans who returned from West Bengal to undergo a corona check. When the report came, the senses of the department flew away. A test of 190 jawans was conducted, out of which the report of 50 jawans has come positive.
Now the families of those soldiers are also being investigated and those soldiers have been assured of all possible help. Along with this, family members are also being told that if they see any kind of symptoms of corona, then they should get it checked immediately.
In view of inquiries it is informed that on testing of #NDRF personnel in Odisha after return from #CycloneAmphan duties 50 were found positive of nearly 190 personnel tested for COVID19. On the 50 infected jawans with no signs of corona,
NDRF Director General Satya Narayan Pradhan tweeted, ‘Corona test of 190 NDRF jawans from Odisha returning from relief and rescue operations of cyclone Amfan in West Bengal. Out of which 50 reported positive. The surprising thing is that these soldiers do not have symptoms of corona and it is under surveillance.
Significantly, the storm of Amfan, which rose from the Bay of Bengal, caused havoc in West Bengal and Odisha. 86 people were killed due to the cyclone. At the same time, millions of people became homeless. After Aman, arrangements in many areas of Odisha have still not been fixed. Many areas are still struggling for basic amenities like electricity, water.
