Adivi Sesh on the southern industry: This year has been very special for Adivi Sesh and his films won not only the box office but also the hearts of critics. Adivi recently explained why she started co-writing movies. He said that there is no casting culture in the Telugu film industry and all the leading roles in a film are played by actors from film families.

Adivi recently spoke about the actors in the Telugu industry who are not from a film family and are limited to playing the hero’s fourth friend or other similar roles. He said that someone like him was the ’53rd choice’ for a good script.

Adivi wrote the script because

In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Adivi reveals why he started writing his own movies. He said: “Of my last six films, four were written by me in collaboration with the director. When you come from outside they don’t offer you. You are not being considerate. I was tired of it. From above, there are ten heroes in each family. So for a good script that comes from you, you’re like the 53rd choice. And there are only 20 good scripts, so it’s easier to start writing.”

Auditions don’t happen in the South

He said that there is no audition culture in the Telugu industry, at least not for lead roles. Adivi said, “It’s usually reserved…Most of the time you’re auditioning for the lead’s fourth friend or other similar roles. I wanted to have some control over the process. You end up partially getting your point.” because I wanted to control the process. Not that I know better, but I know that at least if I fall, I’ll know why I fell.”

Adivi Sesh’s latest release Hit 2 was a box office success. This is the story of Krishna Dev aka KD (Adivi Sesh) a police officer from the Homicide Intervention Team (HIT) of Andhra Police. The way he approaches a new case involving a serial killer targeting women gives him sleepless nights. Speaking at the HIT 2 pre-launch event recently, its director Shailesh Kolanu said, “There are two things. When you present such crimes, it’s very important not to glorify violence… We take it very responsibly. We haven’t stylized the crime that we are portraying in the film, is a story based on the fight of good to defeat evil”.
