Re-evaluation requests were put forwards by 3,02,380 students of which 73,333 students passed and 16,636 students were able to secure higher marks post recheck. Friday, 11 January 2019 : chennai: The cash-for-marks racket at Anna University boosted scores of a student in one paper (in April/ May 2017 exam) from 5 to 77 after re-evaluation, in a manner that would seem perfectly legal, but by exploiting loopholes in rules. This answer sheet from the April/ May 2017 exam is part of evidence collected by directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption (DVAC), which has booked former controller of examinations G V Uma and nine others for taking money to rig answer sheets. Friday, 11 January 2019 : CHENNAI : In the aftermath of the revaluation scam, Anna University has introduced a slew of examination reforms, including distribution of answer keys, striking down of blank pages and cross-checking 30% of evaluated answer scripts, the university told the Madras high court recently.G V Uma, former Controller of Examinations, and other faculty members were suspended for their alleged role in the said scam. Besides an ongoing Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Vigilance (DVAC) probe, an internal committee formed to probe the scam found that answer scripts of students were manipulated at evaluation centres. Former Anna University vice-chancellor M Anandakrishnan told TOI that the scam was unheard of anywhere in the country. Friday, 11 January 2019 : chennai: After the cash-for marks expose, it could well be a cash-for-seats scam at Anna University.More than 60 students, whose names were not present in the final admission list last year, are attending second year classes in College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG) which is ranked first in Tamil Nadu among state-run technical institutions.
