J. Kumar, Director, Planning and Development, has been appointed as Anna University Registrar (in-charge).University Vice Chancellor M.K. Surappa said Mr. Kumar was appointed as former Registrar S. Ganesan had sought to be relieved from the post. Though Mr. Ganesan’s tenure had ended long back, it was extended by the then convenor committee till a new registrar was appointed.Earlier in the day, Anna University Teachers’ Association had sought action against the Registrar, alleging that he was involved in malpractices. The association members said they had written to the Governor-Chancellor Banwarilal Purohit to issue directions to the Vice Chancellor, M.K. Anna University exams 2018: Anna University has postponed the semester examinations in all the colleges of three cyclone affected districts- Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur and Pudukottai. The examinations is scheduled to be conducted from Saturday. The university will announce the dates of the examinations soon, as per the official release. Earlier, the university has cancelled all the examinations scheduled to be conducted from November 15 to 22. Three professors of Anna University are to be dismissed from service for their “involvement in a scam in the revaluation of answer papers” in 2012. A decision to this effect was taken by the Syndicate of the university at its meeting held in September. The scam pertains to the tenure of Vice-Chancellor P. chennai: After cancelling the maths 2 exam due to question paper leak, Anna University has announced that re-exam for affiliated colleges will be conducted on December 12.The maths-2 arrear examination was conducted on December 3. Over 80,000 students appeared for the exam. But, during the exam, Anna University was alerted by anonymous students that the question paper for one of the most difficult papers in engineering stream was already leaked.After an initial inquiry, the university was shocked to learn that the question paper was indeed leaked before the exam. But for women, who can hold no more, the walk and wait become longer.While all students demand more accommodating public conveniences, the women seek potty parity. “There are 600 students including 350 girls on campus. Girls have to share the four cubicles in the restrooms with women faculty which is at the end of the old block because the one toilet for us is not functioning any more. But the men have more than thrice the number including four near our classrooms,” said a first year student from the college. There is one toilet for more than 70 women (students and faculty). Chennai: After the third round of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling ended on Thursday, 214 self-financing engineering colleges which is more than 40% of the total number of colleges in the state have filled less than 10 seats each, while 71 have not filled even a single seat Going by the trend, educationists say, many colleges will fail to fill the AICTE-mandated 30% seats after five rounds of counselling. chennai: Anna University exams which were earlier scheduled to begin from November 15, 2018 would commence from today. The examinations were re-scheduled to begin from November 22 due to inclement weather and Cyclone Gaja last week. The examinations would begin as per schedule in all except Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur and Pudukkottai districts. Meanwhile, due to continued inclement weather and rains in Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu, the schools and colleges in Chennai and Kancheepuram districts have been ordered shut for today.
