The menstrual issue is still ‘untouchable’. That is why I am interested in the compilation ‘Period Matters: Menstruation in South Asia’ edited by Farah Ahmed. The collection will be published on June 30. It includes many celebrities as well as transgender people, women in prisons, their menstrual experiences, memories, stories and sufferings of the homeless. Against this background, the editor thought:

‘Creativity opens many doors. She has the potential to bring about change in the spiritual, cultural and political spheres. It is a journey to unravel the mystery of the self, to unravel the mystery of existence. The purpose of this collection of stories is to go deeper and tell stories about menstruation (menstruation) in a different way than the simple way. I asked myself – how can different approaches be accommodated? Which writers or artists can pick and display this variety? I thought the answer would be found in complete artistic freedom. No template for style or presentation. Provide your own experience the way you want it, that’s all.

A formula also came as the book began to take shape. Expect a little more freedom at the source of all stories. Speak clearly if you want to, otherwise be quiet, lock yourself into the room or go out, go to the temple, otherwise attend a family ceremony, the freedom to do as you wish! Freedom to choose what to learn, whom to marry, and what to eat. Yes and .. the right to choose menstrual products just like any other basic necessity.

For some, writing is a very private affair. Memories that left an indelible mark on their future existence and relationships. This is a matter of luck and sometimes a very painful thing for me as the first reader of the experiences of all these writers. Viewing their past, writing about their stories, drawing, and learning about the process of telling through dance is an invaluable experience for me.

Some of these writers had a great impact on me before I got involved in this program and others later got involved in the process. Some of them are struggling with cultural, economic, family and health issues. The Internet separates the challenges faced by those living in remote areas without power outages. My efforts gradually paid off. I went from one way to another. How the authors and some of the authors involved in this book also aroused curiosity through such editorial notes on some untouchable subject like menstruation from stories, essays, poems along with some pictures.
